Carrie Helwick, on behalf of the Junior League of San Jose, partnered with M Magazine and Barnes & Noble to host a “Pajama Drive and Book Fair” benefiting the Northern California Chapter of the Pajama Program.
The Pajama Program serves thousands of children in temporary living facilities, including orphanages, group homes, and shelters, who otherwise would be without the comforts we often take for granted like a pair of warm pajamas and a good book.
As part of the day’s festivities, Kristi Yamaguchi read from her new children’s book, It’s a Big World, Little Pig, and provided signed copies. In addition to providing milk and cookies for the event, Barnes & Noble donated a percentage of the day’s book sales to the Pajama Program.
The event was a huge success, being a great way to get kids involved and teach them about the joy of giving back. As always, the donations to the Northern California Chapter stay in our region to serve the children in our community.
