The Pajama Program's Northern California Chapter Receives $10,000 Grant from the Intero Foundation

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA - September 2011

The Northern California Chapter of the Pajama Program, which provides new, warm pajamas and books to children in need, received a $10,000 grant from the Intero Foundation.

“We are extremely grateful to the Intero Foundation for their generosity.  This is the first grant our chapter has received, and it allows us to purchase much-needed pajamas for older foster children.  Many of the drives throughout the year result in donations of new pajamas for smaller children.  Grants such as this allow us to serve foster children of all ages and sizes,” said Pallie Zambrano, co-president of the chapter and an attorney with McManis Faulkner.

Many of the Northern California Chapter’s contributions come from its annual “Open Your Heart” campaign, which is held in partnership with the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.  Through the program, thousands of pajamas and books have been received during what is widely considered the “Danger Season” – a particularly cold and lonely period for children and teens in need.

The Pajama Program also accepts monetary donations and was the recent recipient of a $5,000 donation from McManis Faulkner.

The Intero Foundation is a non–profit organization founded in 2002 that has raised more than $1.9 million to benefit children living in the communities it serves.  To date, the Intero Foundation has lent its support to more than 70 local charities – organizations that range in size and mission, but all work to positively impact the growth and well being of children by enhancing their education and personal development.  On the Web: http://interofoundation.org/.
