Representative Family Law Cases
  • MF's Family Law team represented a client requesting an annulment based on fraud. During the lengthy trial, the issues involved fraud allegations as well as the evaluation of a professional practice and support for the husband, the perpetrator of the fraud, following a long marriage.
  • MF represented the interest of the spouse in a lengthy marital dissolution trial. The husband had started a company before the marriage. During the marriage, the company became successful and the husband sold it for a considerable sum. The analysis of the wife’s interest involved the application of the principles of Marriage of Pereira and Marriage of Van Camp, and the valuation of stock options using various theories. In subsequent proceedings in the same case, which also went to trial, MF handled modification of child support, looking at concepts of attributed income for unemployed parties, and how to attribute income to the assets, which had been divided.
  • In a custody trial, MF opposed the recommendation of the court-appointed evaluator. MF lawyers challenged the evaluator and convinced the court that the evaluator’s recommendation should not be followed, successfully obtaining a result in which the client remained primary parent.

  • MF handled a lengthy trial for a same-sex couple in a custody dispute over their children, involving issues of the timeshare of the children as well as the sharing of religious holidays.
  • MF represented a spouse in litigation over support, following an appeal dealing with multiple issues, including the ceiling on support for children based upon their reasonable needs. Guideline support for the children could have been in excess of six figures per month for one child. The matter was successfully settled on the first day of trial.
  • MF represented a client involved in a dispute over date of separation and stock options, where the difference in the date resulted in a several-million-dollar difference in the division of the assets.
  • MF represented a client in a trial that lasted a number of months regarding the misappropriation by one spouse of the antiques, art work, wine collection, and furniture that had been collected during the marriage.
