MCMANIS FAULKNER ADDS FIVE ATTORNEYS

     SAN JOSE, Feb. 22, 2008 – McManis Faulkner, a leading Northern California trial firm representing both individuals and corporations, has added five new lawyers: Geoffrey Bentzel, Carolyn Helwick, Ruby Kazi, Laurel Sevier and Joshua Voorhees.

     Bentzel is a trial lawyer focused on business matters. He has experience with cases involving personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability. Bentzel received his J.D. from the University of Georgia (2003), where he was on the editorial board for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law, and earned his B.A. from Clemson University (1999). He is admitted to practice law in both California and Georgia and is a member of the bar for both states, as well as the Santa Clara County Bar Association.

     Helwick assists clients in all aspects of marital dissolutions, including child custody and visitation; tracing of property; and assessment of spousal and child support. She is a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children, the Santa Clara County Bar Association and the State Bar of California. Helwick earned her J.D., with a concentration in family law, from the University of California, Hastings College of Law (2007), and her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles (2003).

     Kazi has experience in complex class actions, real estate, general business, civil rights and trust and probate litigation. She is a member of the State Bar of California, the Santa Clara County Bar Association and the Bay Area Association of Muslim Lawyers. Kazi received her J.D. from Drake Law School (2003) and her B.S. from Northwestern University (2000).

     Voorhees is a trial lawyer with experience in class actions, environmental hazards and business matters. He is admitted to practice law in California, New York and Connecticut. He is also a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association. Voorhees earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law (2003) and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University (2000).

     Sevier also focuses on marital dissolutions, including child custody and visitation; tracing of property; and assessment of spousal and child support. She co-authored “Starting Small in Silicon Valley: A Guide to Starting Your Own Business,” and authored “Kooky Collects: How the Conflict Between Law and Psychiatry Grants Inheritance Rights to California’s Mentally Ill Slayers.” Sevier received her J.D. from Santa Clara University, School of Law (2007) and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley (2003).
